THURSDAY August 12, 1999
Sailing from Sooke aboard the "Mighty ROLANO" members
of the Film Society encountered the H.M Bark ENDEAVOUR.
The Endeavour was shrouded in mist sailing towards the Sooke Harbour from the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Film Society members Gary Nicholls and Randall Taylor were in costume of the period around 1768 when Cook was the captain of the Endeavour. The ROLANO escorted the Endeavour to Whiffin Spit in Sooke Harbour.

Film Society president Shannon Valentine and Gary Nicholls enjoyed looking
at the replica ship Endeavour. The H.M Bark Endeavour was James Cook's ship
which was originally a three masted collier named the "Earl of Pembroke". It
was of a type known as "Northumbian" or "Whitby Cats", a flat bottom seaworthy
cargo ship.

can be seen in the background. Film Society members Linda Gordon, Gary Nicholls
and Randy Taylor were "hamming it up" at the festivities as Andrew Moore and
the singing group EKOOS sang "A Ballad for Sooke".

Shannon Valentine strummed the guitar with Adam Dobres as the Rolano sailed away for a dinner cruise.
